Hank has a familiar sailing story. His family moved to the water when he was young. He and his siblings sailed all summer in the junior sailing program (Centerport Yacht Club). He spent four years team racing in Prep School and summers driving a launch and pumping fuel at a local marina. Then career took him away from sailing. He got back into sailing later in life and started with a smaller 37 foot boat (solo Trans-at in 1992) and purchased his Swan 48 Avocation along with Jan Breyer, whom he met through sailing. The two of them have campaigned the boat the last 3 years in the Caribbean. They have attended the last two American Swan Regattas in Newport, the last two Swan Rendezvous’ at the Bitter End Resort and will be there again in 2008. They were third in their division in the Centennial Bermuda Race. They we will be in Sardinia next summer for the Swan Worlds. As Hank says “We are participating in so many Swan events, why not get more involved and volunteer to help get the association running again?”
