Boat Insurance

My insurance company (Ace Marine) is requiring me to install smoke alarms in each berth compartment and main salon on my Swan 44. Has anyone else been required by their insurance company to do this?

I have the Swan Owners insurance from Pantaneius. They do not require smoke alarms.

My 1978 Swan 57 is insured with Markel American Insurance in Glen Allen, VA. Smoke alarms are not required although at least one seems like a good idea. I can provide you with contact information for my insurance broker in Michigan if you'd like; they do a nice job for this boat and my little Boston Whaler.
