The inaugural Route Halifax St. Pierre was held in 2002. 20 yachts from Canada, The US and France took part. Two and four years later, 30 or more yachts took part each time. This event has become one of the more popular internationally ocean racing events on the Atlantic seaboard. Planning for the 2010 edition is now well underway.
